Job Title: Assistant Accountant Revenue
The key responsibilities for this role include but not limited to the following:
- Analyse, reconcile, and report MTN Zambia revenue and direct costs in compliance with accounting standards and company policy.
- Perform daily and monthly revenue analysis, identifying trends, variances, and exceptions.
- Prepare and post monthly revenue journals to the general ledger in line with reporting timelines.
- Reconcile billing systems, sub‑ledgers, and the general ledger, resolving reconciling items promptly.
- Conduct month‑on‑month and budget variance analysis, providing clear explanations for management review.
- Reconcile interconnect and roaming revenues against traffic and billing data, reporting discrepancies.
- Support accounts receivable reviews, including debtor ageing analysis and first‑level provisioning for doubtful debts.
- Validate enterprise customer contracts and invoices, ensuring accuracy and timely billing.
- Ensure revenue recognition and cost of sales are aligned with MTN Group policies and IFRS standards.
- Support audit, system integrity, and process improvement initiatives to strengthen revenue assurance and reporting accuracy.
Candidate Requirements
- Grade 12 certificate with 5 credit or better of which English and Mathematics are a must
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or professional qualification (ZICA, CIMA Managerial, ACCA Level 2 or equivalent)
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a finance environment, with at least 2 years in financial or revenue reporting
- Experience working with ERP systems and high‑volume financial data
- Knowledge of IFRS/IAS, revenue recognition, and financial reporting standards
- Experience in a telecommunications or highly regulated environment is advantageous.
