Job Title: Assistant Accountant Fixed Assets
The key responsibilities for this role include but not limited to the following:
- Maintain an accurate and up‑to‑date fixed asset register in line with MTN Zambia accounting policies.
- Ensure timely and accurate recording of asset acquisitions, disposals, impairments, and decommissioning costs.
- Apply correct depreciation methods, rates, and residual values in accordance with IAS/IFRS.
- Monitor and report on capital expenditure (CAPEX), ensuring proper classification and capitalization.
- Obtain and manage Capital Acceptance Certificates for qualifying capital expenditure.
- Prepare monthly fixed asset reconciliations and support financial reporting processes.
- Provide accurate and timely fixed asset reports for management, audit, and statutory purposes.
- Support external and internal audits by providing asset‑related schedules and documentation.
- Coordinate and manage the insurance of company assets in collaboration with relevant stakeholders.
- Identify and recommend process improvements and automation opportunities within fixed asset accounting.
Candidate Requirements
- Grade 12 certificate with 5 credit or better of which English and Mathematics are a must
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or professional qualification (ZICA, AAT, CIMA, ACCA) or equivalent
- Minimum of 2 years’ accounting experience, preferably in fixed assets or capital expenditure accounting
- Working knowledge of IFRS / IAS and accounting standards relating to fixed assets
- Experience in a telecommunications or highly regulated environment is advantageous
