The Database and Reporting Officer is responsible for the ownership, administration, monitoring, performance, security, availability and recovery of all database environments within FINCA Zambia. This includes timely delivery of business, operational, management and regulatory reports while maintaining data integrity, accuracy and security across all reporting platforms.
Core Responsibilities
Database Administration
• Create and maintain database required for development, testing, DR and production environments.
• Perform ongoing database monitoring, performance tuning and optimization.
• Install, configure and maintain database software and supporting tools.
• Manage database changes through the development life cycle.
• Plan and implement database backup and recovery procedures.
• Perform database reorganization activities to improve performance and availability.
• Ensure maximum database availability, reliability and security.
Reporting and Data Management
• Develop, maintain and support operational, management and regulatory reports.
• Provide data extraction and analysis services to business units.
• Support report automation initiatives and data quality improvement programs.
• Troubleshoot and resolve reporting issues within agreed service levels.
• Work with stakeholders to understand reporting requirements and deliver appropriate solutions.
• Assist with audits and regulatory requests requiring data extractions and reporting.
• Ensure the accuracy, integrity and security of data used in reports.
Required Technical Skills
• Good knowledge of Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server database administration.
• Strong SQL and PL/SQL development skills
• Good knowledge of database backup and recovery scenarios
• Good knowledge of database security management
• Good knowledge of Windows and Linux operating systems.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field.
• 3–5 years’ experience in database administration.
• Professional Certification in Oracle, SQL Server or related database technologies will be an added advantage.
• Experience in reporting, data analysis and business intelligence support.
• Experience in Banking or Financial Services will be an added advantage.
