We are expanding our footprint in Zambia and are seeking a highly driven Sales Engineer with a strong mining engineering background to lead business development within the country.
Role Overview
The Sales Engineer will be responsible for identifying opportunities, engaging clients, and driving sales of Edge IOT & AI’s hardware and software solutions to mines and related industrial clients across Zambia. The ideal candidate is a technically competent professional with a proven record of selling complex technology-based solutions into the mining sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a sales strategy to expand Edge IOT & AI’s presence in Zambia’s mining industry.
- Identify and qualify new business opportunities with mining companies, contractors, and plant operators.
- Conduct client presentations, product demonstrations, and technical discussions tailored to customer needs.
- Prepare and submit proposals, quotations, and tender documentation in line with company guidelines.
- Manage the full sales cycle — from lead generation and negotiation to deal closure and post-sale support coordination.
- Collaborate with the technical and operations teams to ensure solutions are aligned with client requirements.
- Maintain an up-to-date understanding of mining operations, automation trends, and competitive landscape.
- Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with key stakeholders in the Zambian mining sector.
- Provide regular reporting on sales activities, pipeline development, and market insights.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in technical sales, preferably within mining or industrial automation.
- Proven success in closing deals for complex solutions involving hardware, software, or integrated systems.
- Demonstrated network of decision-making contacts within Zambia’s mining sector.
- Strong understanding of mine operations and familiarity with digitalization, fleet management and safety systems.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
- Self-motivated, target-driven, and comfortable working independently with limited supervision.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel extensively within Zambia and regionally when required.
