JOB PURPOSE
To operate and monitor the biscuit sandwiching and horizontal flow wrap machine efficiently, ensuring high-quality product formation, accurate alignment, proper sealing, and minimal wastage. This role requires strong coordination with upstream baking operations and effective utilization of packing helpers to ensure uninterrupted flow, product integrity, and full compliance with GMP standards.
· Start up and calibrate the cream sandwiching unit and flow wrap machine at shift start
· Smooth transition of running machine to the next shift operator (there should be no gap in production)
· Ensure consistent biscuit alignment and cream dosing during sandwiching with minimal breakage and wastage; regularly monitor sandwich quality (height, cream centering, adhesion). – biscuit wastage target <2%
· Wrapper wastage target <2%
· Ensuring there is no idle manpower at the machine – breaks of the staff on the machine to be managed by the Machine attendant
· During machine setup, minimum wrapper wastage to be generated, must fall within the shift target of 2%.
· Closely coordinate with the oven operator to ensure smooth and timely biscuit feed to the sandwiching line – to ensure any issues in biscuit shells are timely communicated
· Conduct real-time visual and weight checks on finished sandwich packs to ensure correct count, seal integrity (centre and end seal), and accurate batch/date coding.
· Lead effective coordination with packing helpers to ensure timely case packing – zero short filling target and zero inaccurate master carton printing targets
· Log daily production output, downtimes, wastage reasons, and machine changeovers.
· Conduct routine cleaning of the machine surfaces, cream hoppers, nozzles, and belt areas to avoid contamination and buildup.
· Maintain high hygiene standards around the machine and enforce personal hygiene for all helpers on the line.
· Report persistent mechanical issues to maintenance promptly and assist in basic troubleshooting.
Should be equipped with knowledge of rectifying issues that are of a basic nature i.e. cutter replacement, changing over of product, round sealers adjustment, jaws adjustment, rectification of cut on wrapper issue, all mechanical related jobs etc.
Requirement/Qualification
· Diploma in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering
· 3+ years’ experience in operating biscuit sandwiching or horizontal flow wrap machines
· Basic mechanical understanding of gear trains, alignment systems, and sealing operations
· Strong visual inspection skills and attention to product aesthetics and quality
· Ability to lead a small team of packing helpers effectively
· Familiarity with GMP, hygiene, and food safety standards
· Physically fit and able to work in fast-paced environments
· High sense of ownership, cleanliness, and operational discipline
